As you may have heard, November is the month of the moustache – whether it be the traditional gent, cowboy, Italian plumber, oil baron or wizard. Although with so many mos to choose from, how does one first of all pick the right style, and secondly dress it in all its furry glory. There have also been a number of furry icons over the last few decades, so we have selected two stand out men with mos as inspiration for your furry quest – after all we are now two weeks into Movember and your facial friends should be taking a nice shape.

Errol Flynn – The Traditional Gent

Acting legend Errol Flynn wasn’t just famous for his roles and womanising ways, his mo epitomised the traits of a traditional gentleman – soft, delicate and romantic (no wonder he was a hit with the ladies). To dress a classic mo, opt for preppy separates including polo shirts, cable knit jumpers or cardigans and chinos. Accessories wise, embrace quirky pieces such as bow ties, braces and top hats, then finish with a pair of shiny brogues or loafers.

Scotch & Soda Burgundy Bow Tie £22

Lacoste Sleeveless Knit £89

Villain Steve Black Chinos £70

Farrell Dress Coat £299

Tom Selleck – The Cowboy

When you think of a moustache, the name Tom Selleck instantly springs to mind – Mr. Selleck and his mo are effortlessly one of the same. If it’s a hearty growth, and the rough and ready you prefer then channel Selleck’s iconic masculine mo and opt for ‘the cowboy’. You can’t go wrong with a lumberjack check shirt and a pair of faded jeans to bring out the best of this testosterone fuelled mo, then to finish, add a quilted jacket and leather boots for the perfect robust look – a la macho man.

Ralph Lauren Checked Shirt £95

Diesel Darron Jeans £160

Duck and Cover Dac Foster Jacket £95

Oliver Sweeney Leather Side Zip Boot £325

And finally…some miinto preening tips:

1. Use a fine comb to brush out any tangles and keep the mo neat and tidy.

2. Dab on some moustache wax to set its style.

3. Regularly trim (depending on the rate of growth) to keep the mo in shape.
